About us

Based in Settat, Morocco and founded in January 2022. Moroccan Association of Innovation and Scientific Research in Artificial Intelligence and Extended Reality (XR the Moroccan Association) is a non-Profit apolitical association whose core mission is to provide a network for all those interested in interdisciplinary research that has a direct bearing on the understanding or remediation of problems associated with Extended Reality (XR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Innovation. Our mission is to build an academic-wide platform for researchers, and external organizations to collaborate, innovate and shape the future of Extended Reality and Artificial Intelligence.

The ultimate goal for this association is to bring researchers from different courses, skills, and passions together to build immersive experiences that create a positive change in Moroccan society. We will be using Virtual, Augmented, Mixed Reality, and Artificial Intelligence technologies to create projects that can be used to shape the future of education, medicine, design, geography, computing, psychology, engineering, business and more. We deem it very important to work closely with external organizations and academics throughout the events  we hold.

We will work to fill the skills gap in the technological/digital field and encourage contacts to be made with future employers. We want to be a go-to hub and resource for researchers/lecturers  wanting to do XR/AI research at the university.

XR the Moroccan Association aims to be a powerhouse for innovation and a bridge between academia and industry. In the future, we want our association’s model to be replicated across universities as the importance of XR for researchers is realized.

Dr. El Mostafa BOURHIM

El mostafa Bourhim received his Ph.D in Industrial engineering, Virtual and Augmented Reality from Mohammed V University, Mohammadia School of engineers (EMI), Rabat Morocco. His research interests include Virtual, Augmented and Extended Reality (XR), Ergonomics and human factors. He also acts regularly as an expert reviewer for many international scientific reputed journals and conferences including international journal of human computer studies, ergonomics, Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology, Safety Science.

Dr. Oumayma LABTI

Oumayma LABTI received her Ph.D in Management from Hassan II University of Casablanca. Her research interests include Consumer behavior, Service Innovation, Service Marketing and understanding Consumer‘s buying decision process through Extended Reality and Artificial Intelligence Technologies. She also acts regularly as an expert reviewer for many international scientific reputed journals and conferences including Journal of Risk and Reliability.

Dr. Mohamed Oussama BEL MADANI

Mohamed-Oussama BEL MADANI is a psychiatry resident doctor with a passion for understanding the intricacies of human behavior as it relates to health and wellness. With a focus on personality and psychiatry. Through their thesis research, he has shed new light on the role of personality traits such as anxiety, paranoia, and religiosity in shaping individual’s beliefs about vaccines and vaccine-related misinformation.  In addition to their work in public health, he is also interested in exploring the potential of extended reality and artificial intelligence in medicine.

Mohamed BENRAHAL

Mohamed BENRAHAL is a software issues manager in an automotive international company. With expertise in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and functions, he is responsible for managing and overseeing software development projects related to ADAS. In addition to Mohamed’s work, He is a technical Pilot that ensures good management of the Project life cycle for the ADAS systems inside vehicles for Western Europe.  his research focus is on the opportunities and challenges related to the use of Extended Reality in an Educational context and in investigating the Educational potential of immersive Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality for 21st Century Education.

Zineb SABOURI

Zineb  SABOURI is a Ph.D student in Artificial Intelligence specifically Machine Learning, she received her engineering degree from the National School of Applied Sciences in Khouribga. With a background in computer science and software engineering, she has developed strong technical expertise in the field of software development. Throughout Zineb’s academic and professional career, she has demonstrated a passion for exploring the potential of cutting-edge technologies, particularly in the realm of machine learning. Through her Ph.D research, she seeks to develop new and innovative Machine-Learning algorithms that can improve the performance and accuracy of various applications.

Ismail LHMAMDA

Ismail  LHMAMDA works as a Senior Project Manager on a variety of assignments ranging from ground-up new construction projects to historical renovations. He has over 8 years of experience and he is capable of overseeing and completing large-scale projects of up to 5 million Dollars on time and within budgets in different countries such as India, Pakistan, KSA, UAE, Bangladesh, Oman, and more. His major research interests are occupational ergonomics and biomechanics. He is particularly interested in developing and evaluating evidence-based interventions to reduce physical exposures to reduce occupational injuries and illness and therefore improve workers’ health and well-being through Extended Reality

Ali DAHANE

Ali  DAHANE received a Master’s degree in Management of Public Administration from Hassan II University, where he developed a strong foundation in the theories and practices of public administration. As a passionate Ph.D. student, his research focuses on exploring the immense potential of Augmented Reality in transforming the way businesses connect with their customers in the field of consumer marketing. He is constantly seeking innovative ways to merge cutting-edge technology with traditional marketing strategies, to enhance consumer experiences. Besides Ali’s academic career, he has over 15 years of experience in public administration.
